Effective translation from page to screen.

To effectively translate the book you wouldn't need to change much, if anything at all. The novel already has i great story line and it keeps you wanting to read on. The movie should just be able to follow along with the book and it will create a already fascinating  story. In order for the movie to appeal to adults as well as children, it would need to use an intricate story line so that the audience is hooked on the movie the whole time. Action seems to play a big part of the book, so making those scenes more graphic and exciting would appeal more to older people.

Reaction-Movie

The movie did not really appeal to me. I believe that it did not really follow the text and therefore it did not fully convey the  themes and symbols of the literature. Although, I do like that the movie is based in modern times because it is easier to relate to than if it were a 1930's movie in black and white which would bore me. I believe that the book doesn't have enough  excitement to engage an audience for the entire length of a film.

Translations

Three evaluative features of a translation are: 

1. Staying true to the dialogue

2. Keeping the story in chronological order

3. Making sure the public will approve

If you do not stay true to the features you will not be translating a book from page to screen, you will be creating a whole new story.

Adaptation

Reaction- My reaction to Adaptation that a lot more goes into a screen play than i thought. Nicohlas cage becomes obsessed with the subject matter.He completely surrounds himself in order to make the screenplay that much more realistic.

Challenges- Through the course of his writing he often has trouble seeing the overall story and plot. As he says the movie he wants to create a movie about flowers, plan and simple. The only problem is, there's no story.
